Comptroller Atuluku Strengthens Inter-Agency Collaboration, Visits Sister Agencies in Bayelsa

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria News Today — The Nigeria Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt Area I Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and deepening security cooperation through visits to sister agencies in Bayelsa State.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Barilule Aanee (Assistant Superintendent of Customs I), Comptroller Atuluku recently paid courtesy visits to the Commander, 16 Brigade Headquarters, Brigadier General O. Obolo, and the Comptroller of Immigration, Bayelsa State Command, Comptroller F.O. Atteh.
The visits, which took place in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, were marked with warmth and mutual respect, underscoring the importance of partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and other security agencies.
Comptroller Atuluku commended both the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Immigration Service for their dedication to national security, border control, and territorial integrity. She stressed that the NCS shares a common goal with sister agencies in protecting Nigeria’s borders, facilitating trade, and preventing economic sabotage.
“Our synergy is vital for effective service delivery,” she said. “Through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and cooperation, we can better address smuggling, trafficking, and other cross-border crimes.”
Responding, Brigadier General Obolo praised Comptroller Atuluku’s leadership and affirmed the Army’s readiness to sustain intelligence-driven collaboration with Customs in the protection of Nigeria’s economic frontiers.
Similarly, Comptroller F.O. Atteh lauded the visit, noting that the cooperation between Immigration and Customs remains central to securing Nigeria’s borders and enabling lawful movement of goods and persons. He pledged continued support to joint operations aimed at curbing illegal migration and cross-border criminality.
Concluding, Comptroller Atuluku described the visit as part of a familiarisation and relationship-building effort to enhance coordination between the Port Harcourt Area I Command and sister agencies operating within the Bayelsa outstation.
She expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would promote operational harmony, security, and sustainable development across the region.
