The vehicles were reportedly traveling to N’djamena, the Chad Republic, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon, according to the anti-graft organization.

On Tuesday, agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Maiduguri Zonal Command seized 21 trucks that were carrying both food and non-food products.

The vehicles were reportedly traveling to N’djamena, the Chad Republic, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon, according to the anti-graft organization.

According to the report, the trucks were stopped during a sting operation at important turnoffs on the Borno State roads Kalabiri/Gamboru Ngala and Bama.

The agency released a statement stating, “Investigation revealed food items deftly concealed in the trucks that would have gone undetected but for the keen observation of Commission operatives.”

Subsequent inspections revealed that the waybills for the items transported by trucks listed N’djamena, the Chad Republic, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon as their respective destinations.

It is anticipated that the trucks’ detention will stop the nationwide wave of food shortages brought on by smugglers’ dishonest behavior.

“As soon as investigations are finished, suspects who were arrested with the trucks will be charged in court and will be profiled.”
