Abuja, Nigeria — May 6, 2025: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the 2025 budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), amounting to N1.702 trillion, to the House of Representatives for consideration.
The budget proposal was conveyed through a letter read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas.
According to President Tinubu, 85% of the capital expenditure in the proposed budget will be dedicated to the completion of ongoing projects across Abuja and its environs. The remaining 15% is slated for new infrastructure and service improvement initiatives.
He urged the lawmakers to give the proposal swift and favorable attention to facilitate timely implementation of the outlined programs and projects.
This proposal follows the N1.28 trillion 2024 FCT budget, which was defended by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, before the Joint House Committee on FCT and FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters last year.
The 2025 budget underscores the administration’s focus on accelerating capital project delivery, boosting infrastructure development, and enhancing the living conditions of residents in Nigeria’s capital city.
