ICDA Mourns Former President Comrade Josiah Idechu Ikani
Makurdi/Idah – May 6, 2025: The National Executive Council of the Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of its past President, Comrade Josiah Idechu Ikani.
In an official condolence message to the family, the ICDA NEC described late Elder Ikani as a true Igala patriot who lived a life of purpose and service to his people. His dedication to the promotion of Igala cultural values and his role in the growth of the ICDA remain etched in the memory of all who knew him.
“His passion for the promotion and sustenance of Igala cultural and moral values was quite remarkable,” the statement noted, emphasizing his impactful tenure as National President.

- Service of Songs & Tributes: Wednesday, 7th March 2025 at his Makurdi residence
- Wake Keep: Thursday, 8th May 2025 at his residence in Idah
- Funeral Service & Interment: Friday, 9th May 2025 at UEC Headquarters, Idah and his private residence
The ICDA called on all sons and daughters of the Igala Kingdom to attend and bid farewell to a man who represented the best of the Igala heritage.
“We pray the Lord Almighty grants his family and the entire Igala people the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the statement concluded.
