Eid-el-fitr: FG Declares Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th Public Holidays

To commemorate the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, the Federal Government has designated Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays.

This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday by Aishetu Ndayako, the permanent secretary of the ministry, on behalf of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The minister extended his congratulations to every Muslim for successfully finishing the fast during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Tunji-Ojo urged them to emulate the qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), which include kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion.

“To commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays,” the statement stated.

“Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of the Interior, extends his congratulations to the entire Muslim Ummah for successfully finishing the fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Tunji-Ojo urges the Muslim Ummmah to emulate and put into practice the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), which include kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion.

In order to strengthen and establish peace and unity in the nation, he asked Nigerians to keep up the spirit of unity.

“The minister prays for everyone and our wonderful country to have peace, blessings, and Allah’s favor as they wish the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration.”
