Kanu revealed this on Tuesday following his denial of bail by Federal High Court Abuja Judge Binta Nyako.

Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), claims that certain government officials are making money off of the general unrest in the South-East geopolitical zone.

Kanu revealed this on Tuesday following his denial of bail by Federal High Court Abuja Judge Binta Nyako.

Following the court proceedings, the leader of IPOB stated that if he is freed from the Department of State Services’ custody, peace will return to the Southeast.

“I think there are some complicit government officials. They are profiting from this uncertainty. They are aware that this nonsense would end in two minutes if Nnamdi Kanu goes outdoors, Kanu told reporters.

“I promise that in just two minutes, I will leave this nonsense and mess, and there will be peace in the South-East, everyone involved in any kind of violence in the name of IPOB.”

The head of IPOB, who has been detained by the DSS since his extradition in June 2021 and is being prosecuted on accusations that may be considered treasonous, already testified in court that he is receiving unjust treatment from the secret police and that there is a plot to have him killed while in their care.

One of the nation’s six geopolitical zones, the South-East, has seen unprecedented terror attacks over the past three years by so-called “unknown gunmen,” who take great pleasure in destroying police stations and military installations and murdering hundreds of security personnel.

The previous three years have seen a decline in the economy of Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Enugu following the declaration by secessionist agitators of the dangerous Monday sit-at-home phenomena. Travelers and locals fear for their lives as ruthless non-state actors wreak havoc in the states, while officials in the region persist in their efforts to find a political solution to the rapidly growing issue.
