Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Igboho, a prominent Yoruba nation advocate, recently made a statement clarifying that the current state of Nigeria cannot solely be attributed to President Bola Tinubu. He expressed this viewpoint during his visit to the palace of the traditional ruler in Igboho town, Oyo State. Igboho emphasized that the challenges facing Nigeria were inherited from the previous administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Igboho, who has been a vocal critic of the Nigerian government’s treatment of the Yoruba people, recounted his own experiences, including a raid on his residence by the Department of State Services (DSS) in July 2021 and his subsequent arrest in Benin Republic. Despite these challenges, he remains committed to advocating for the rights and freedom of the Yoruba people.
His return to Nigeria, after a significant period abroad, was marked by a warm welcome from the community, underscoring his influence and the support for his cause. Igboho’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment among some Nigerians regarding the complexity of the country’s issues and the need for unity and collective action to address them.
