Kaduna, Nigeria – In a shocking incident in Kudan, Kaduna State, a newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, has been arrested for allegedly attacking and severely injuring her husband, Salisu Idris, while he was asleep. The incident, which occurred on May 26, left the 40-year-old commercial motorcycle rider with life-threatening injuries.
According to Idris, the attack happened shortly after he returned home from early morning prayers. He had just lain down to rest when his wife suddenly jumped on him with a sharp knife, aiming to cut off his manhood. His cries for help alerted neighbors, who quickly came to his rescue, preventing what could have been a fatal injury.
Idris, who has been married to Habiba for about four months, expressed his shock and confusion over the attack, citing that there had been no prior misunderstandings between them. “We loved each other, and there was no sign of trouble,” he said, reflecting on the unexpected violence.
Following the attack, Idris was initially rushed to a local hospital in Kudan and then referred to the General Hospital Makarfi. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, where doctors worked tirelessly to save his life.
The trauma from the incident has left Idris apprehensive about future relationships. “At the moment, I am more concerned about my condition. I am afraid of remarrying because of this incident,” he said.
Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who is currently caring for him in the hospital, confirmed that her son had never complained about his wife before the attack. She mentioned that Habiba’s parents are deeply troubled by the incident and have offered to cover Idris’ medical expenses.
Efforts to obtain a statement from the doctors treating Idris were unsuccessful. Additionally, attempts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, for comments on the case were also unfruitful.
This tragic event has left the local community in shock, raising questions about the underlying reasons behind such a violent act in a seemingly peaceful marriage.
