The Ukomu Igala Organization (UIO) has expressed deep outrage over the gruesome murder of two young women, identified as Omojo and Ajuma, in Oforachi, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, July 31, 2025, along the rubber plantation route, sending shockwaves throughout the community and beyond.

In a strongly worded statement signed by Elder David Abutu, National Leader of UIO, and Gabriel Edicha, National Secretary, the group condemned the killings in the strongest terms, describing the act as senseless and inhumane.

“We are deeply saddened and outraged by this heinous act. It is unacceptable and we demand immediate action from the authorities,” the statement read.

The organization extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of women and children within Igala communities.

UIO also called on the Kogi State Government and security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out and the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.

“We urge our people to stay calm but vigilant. We will not rest until justice is served,” the statement added.

The UIO emphasized that it is already working with sister organizations and relevant authorities to ensure such tragedies are not repeated.

The two victims were said to be on a routine walk through the plantation when they were attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants. The incident has stirred outrage on social media, with calls for swift justice trending among concerned citizens.

As the investigation begins, community leaders and advocacy groups are urging security agencies to act decisively to restore confidence and security in the region.
