Tinubu Congratulates Okpebholo on Edo Governorship Victory

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his victory in the Edo State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo the winner on Sunday, solidifying his position as the state’s new governor.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the efforts of APC national leaders, Edo State leaders, and party governors, noting that their dedication was pivotal to securing this win.

“This victory is a clear endorsement of the APC’s progressive ideals and its commitment to enhancing the lives of Nigerians through economic reform,” the President stated.

Tinubu urged Senator Okpebholo to approach his victory with humility, viewing it as a call to service. He encouraged the new governor to foster unity by reaching out to political opponents, emphasizing collaboration for the development of Edo State.

The President also recognized the contributions of all candidates in the election, underscoring that such peaceful contests strengthen Nigeria’s democratic fabric. He called on those dissatisfied with the election results to pursue legal avenues for redress.

Additionally, President Tinubu praised the people of Edo State for their orderly conduct during the election, highlighting the advancement of Nigeria’s democracy over the past 25 years. He commended INEC and security agencies for their tireless efforts in ensuring a successful and largely peaceful electoral process, affirming that INEC remains committed to free and fair elections in the country.
