Abuja, Nigeria – The House of Representatives has issued a stern warning to social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, threatening to invoke their powers to arrest him if he refuses to testify before the parliament regarding allegations he made against crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky.

During a probe session on Monday, VeryDarkMan, accompanied by his lawyer, refused to respond to the parliament’s inquiries, stating that he would not speak in Bobrisky’s absence. He maintained that his lawyer would be the one to address the allegations.

However, the Committee overseeing the investigation rejected his stance, insisting that he must personally answer questions and adopt his claims. The chairman of the Committee issued a clear ultimatum, emphasizing that failure to comply would result in the invocation of parliamentary powers, which include detention.

“You are not expected to dictate to us whether Bobrisky comes here or not; it is left to us to decide. We can also compel him to appear before us, and we can invoke our powers to arrest him,” the chairman stated.

The Committee expressed frustration over VeryDarkMan’s reluctance to speak, noting that his accusations had led to the summoning of top government officials for the probe. The chairman further warned, “If you refuse to honour this sitting, we will invoke our powers.”

The Committee urged VeryDarkMan to proceed with his testimony and not allow anyone to mislead him, while also advising his lawyer to counsel him accordingly.

“You are here already to testify, I will advise you to go ahead, don’t let anyone deceive you,” the chairman added.
