Prominent businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, following her recent arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Achimugu, who arrived at the court at approximately 11:35 a.m., was escorted by two female EFCC officers. Her arraignment follows her arrest on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after returning from a trip to London.
The arrest came in compliance with an order issued on Monday by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, directing Achimugu to report to the EFCC on Tuesday, April 29, and appear before the court the following day.
The EFCC had declared Achimugu wanted in March 2025 over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Specific details of the charges against her have yet to be made public, but court proceedings are expected to shed more light on the high-profile case.
As of the time of filing this report, court proceedings were ongoing, and additional updates are expected later in the day.
