According to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), it will produce more state governors and assume central government in 2027.

This was said on Sunday by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) when visiting Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri at his rural residence in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the NWC, National Treasurer Alhaji Ahmed Yayare stated that the PDP would produce more governors in 2027 because of the widespread disillusionment brought on by the ongoing economic difficulties.

He emphasized that “if it (PDP) does not take over the leadership of the country, it could be the end of democracy in Nigeria” and pointed out that the PDP was the only strong opposition party capable of unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) from political power.

On Monday, Governor Yusuf will nominate new commissioners and make new appointments.

“There is nothing that prevents the PDP from electing the president and vice president in 2027,” he stated. There is too much poverty and hunger in the country.

Nigeria’s 36 states are eager for the PDP to return. The APC will be stoned if they go out to campaign. You have control over Nigeria. In order to save Nigeria, we require your assistance.

He asked the governors to work together to realize their ambition, even as he said they were ready to tour PDP states to rally support before the 2027 election.

According to Yayare, the NWC was in Sampou to offer Senator Diri condolences for the passing of Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, and Moses Jituboh, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (rtd).

Ude Okoye, the national secretary of the PDP, added that the NWC was ready to reposition the party and show Nigerians that they had a substitute that could provide good leadership.

According to him, the NWC would work quickly to fortify the party and guarantee that it and its governors were respected.

Okoye said the party was extremely pleased of Diri for his outstanding leadership and noteworthy progress in Bayelsa.

In response, Governor Diri stated that as the sole viable opposition party, the party and its governors must stand together.

“As governors, we must collaborate closely. Regardless of whose ox is gored, we must act morally.

“An alternate method of problem solving is to create consensus. Going to court anytime we feel wronged is not always appropriate. We cannot act improperly due to political concerns. We shall not be forgiven by future generations if PDP dies in our hands.

Diri said he was not interested in polarizing the PDP and reassured the party of his support.

“Anyone can depart if they are larger than the group. The majority of us have been made by PDP. We cannot be members of the PDP during the day and belong to another party at night. We must clean the house internally.

Diri said he was in favor of the notion of creating a megaparty with the PDP as the main contender to seize central government.

In order to save the nation from its current decline, he also pushed his comrades to fortify the party.
