LAGOS — Popular Nigerian media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has opened up about her emotional journey to motherhood, while also addressing misconceptions about her views on men, The Bureau News reports.
Just days after revealing that she is expecting her first child, the On-Air Personality spoke candidly in a newly released interview, explaining that her pregnancy is an answered prayer she had shared with God before her 40th birthday.
“At the start, I told God I want to turn 40 a mum. I turned 40 in November and He did it in December. He didn’t fail. God is never late. He just didn’t do it the way I thought it was going to happen,” she said.
Toke revealed that she conceived in December, just one month after her birthday, and described the timing as “God’s perfect plan.”

The media star also used the opportunity to clear the air about her public image, noting that many people mistakenly believe she dislikes men.
“The popular belief out there is that I bash men, I hate men. It’s never been the truth. I’m a hopeless romantic,” she said.
“People didn’t know that I was depressed. Till now people didn’t know why I did that thanksgiving service and I’ve never talked about it till this moment.”
According to her, her outspoken nature has often been misunderstood, even though love and family have always been important to her.
