The Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies in their ongoing battle against
banditry and insurgency across the state.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, made this known in Birnin Kebbi on Friday during a courtesy visit by
Brigadier General Tukur Isma’il Gusau, the Director of Defence Information.
Governor Idris’ Support for Security Forces
Ahmed BK explained that since assuming office two years ago, Governor Nasir Idris has consistently provided logistics, allowances, and intelligence support to security forces in Kebbi.
He assured that the administration would continue to strengthen this backing to ensure further success in tackling criminal networks.
Call for Wider Stakeholder Engagement
The Commissioner urged the Defence Headquarters to organize a town hall meeting with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders.
He emphasized that such a move would improve intelligence gathering, strengthen synergy, and enhance the overall effectiveness of security operations.
He also pledged his Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the Defence Information Department in facilitating the proposed town hall, leveraging grassroots leaders to mobilize greater public support for peace and stability.
Defence Headquarters Commends Kebbi
Brigadier General Gusau explained that his visit was meant to assess the impact of military–media collaboration in boosting Army–civil relations in Kebbi and the wider North West.
He stressed the importance of community partnership in sustaining successful security operations.
The Defence spokesperson commended Governor Idris for his continued support to the military, describing it as instrumental in restoring peace to troubled communities.
He also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to the Kebbi State Government for its role in promoting peace and security in the state and beyond.
