In a renewed effort to address the recurring challenges caused by flooding, the Kebbi State Government has begun a comprehensive inspection of areas impacted by the recent disaster.

The Flood Assessment Committee — set up by the state government — has commenced on-site visits to communities affected by the flood, gathering accurate data to determine the scale of infrastructural destruction and to make informed recommendations on necessary interventions.

During the visit, committee members, who are drawn from key ministries and agencies, assessed damaged roads, schools and other public facilities. According to Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruq, the Commissioner for Works and chairman of the committee, the team will prioritise the worst-hit locations and estimate the cost of reconstruction.

“We are committed to ensuring a fast recovery for all impacted communities. This assignment will guide the government on the best approach for rehabilitation,” he noted.

The committee will also propose long-term preventive measures to help reduce the impact of future flooding in the state.

Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the committee by providing relevant information.
