The Nigeria Police Force, Kaduna State Command, has verified the apprehension of a suspected gunman who was carrying a wallet that included a First Bank ATM card in addition to other things and a free card belonging to a Brigadier General of the Nigerian Army.
This was said in a statement released on Tuesday in Kaduna and signed by ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesman for the police command.
The command’s capture of an armed robbery suspect and recovery of his operational weapon, an AK-47 rifle, according to the police, represented a significant advancement in crime prevention and detection.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maraban Jos Division provided the operators with reliable intelligence information, which the command said contributed to their success on March 24, 2024, at around 2030 hours.
“According to a report received from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maraban Jos Division, police operatives arrested one Salim Aliyu, a 22-year-old resident of Badarawa Kwaru in Kaduna North, Kaduna State, on March 24, 2024, at about 20:30 hours. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives seized one AK47 rifle with Breach No. 01585, along with three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm live ammunition.
A camouflage singlet and face cap from the Nigerian Immigration Service, a sharp knife, a flyer, a desert handbag, a wallet with an ATM card from First Bank, and a complimentary card belonging to a Brigadier General of the Nigerian Army are among the other goods that were found seized from the aforementioned suspect. Aliyu, the defendant, admitted to being on a robbery expedition to rob Maraban Jos during questioning.
The CP Ali Audu Dabigi declared, “This successful operation underscores the Kaduna State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.”
