Birthday Surprise Turns Deadly: Woman Shot by Husband After Affair Discovery | The Bureau News

By Enemona Samuel Endurance

A tragic incident unfolded when a woman named Portia was fatally shot by her husband after he discovered she had spent the night with her manager.

The Bureau News gathered that Portia returned home late — around 6 a.m. — after telling her husband she’d be out celebrating her birthday with friends. The couple had earlier agreed that he would surprise her with a backyard braai to mark the occasion.

Birthday Plans and Suspicion

As part of her birthday, Portia had come home from work carrying gifts. But rather than staying for the planned celebration, she told her husband she was going out. The two argued, and she left.

Later that night, when the husband tried calling her, she did not answer. It was only the next morning that she returned home.

Confrontation and Tragic Outcome

Portia went directly to the bathroom, and her husband followed. The couple quarreled again. In the course of the argument, the husband seized her phone and discovered text messages and other evidence showing she had spent the night with her manager — not friends.

Flush with anger, the husband shot Portia five times. He then drove himself to the police station and surrendered, along with the phone containing the evidence.

Aftermath and Investigation

The Bureau News understands that the husband is now in custody and the case is under formal investigation. Authorities are expected to determine motive, mental state, and whether the shooting was premeditated.

This tragic affair highlights the dangers of jealousy, communication breakdown, and emotional stress in domestic relationships.
