Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has raised serious allegations against some high-ranking politicians, accusing them of being behind the sustained insecurity in the state.
Speaking during a recent interview on Channels Television, Governor Alia expressed deep concern over what he described as a deliberate effort by certain political figures—particularly those currently serving in the National Assembly and based in Abuja—to sponsor and sustain violent elements hiding in the bushes across the state.
“It is very unsettling because top politicians who are functional and active at the National Assembly, and are here in Abuja, are the architects and arrowheads of this crisis. They are not only instigating it, they are also harbouring and funding these individuals, feeding them in the bush, taking care of their bills, and providing them with dangerous gadgets,” he said.
The governor described the actions of these individuals as “extremely unacceptable,” accusing them of prioritizing their political ambitions over the lives and well-being of the people they claim to represent.
“They do not love the lives of their people. They are constantly fighting for their political positions. But I believe I am here to serve the interests of the common masses. It is a concern to me, and it is my constitutional right to protect them,” Alia added.
