According to infomation made available to The Bureau Newspaper, the Kano State Government has initiated a program to distribute free school uniforms to 789,000 students across 7,092 primary schools within the state’s 44 Local Government Areas, aiming to support underprivileged families and enhance educational opportunities.
During the distribution process, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized that enhancing educational standards is a key objective of his administration.
The governor highlighted the importance of education as a fundamental element for a brighter future and urged parents and guardians to ensure their children attend school consistently.
He believes that the gesture is expected to enhance the teaching and learning process while uplifting students’ spirits by encouraging them to focus on their academics.
The provision of free uniforms would assist families facing financial difficulties in meeting their children’s educational needs, stated Yusuf Kabir, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Ali Haruna Makoda, the commissioner for education, announced that the ministry has made significant advancements in staff retention and training, along with the prompt delivery of instructional materials.
He commended educators for their efforts to align with the government’s commitment to high-quality education.
The administration initiated a distribution exercise at Government House in Kano on Monday to tackle the issue of out-of-school children in the state.
