Dead bodies littered everywhere after Fulani killed them in Benue state

Benue State, Nigeria – Tragedy struck again in Benue State on Monday evening, as suspected herdsmen launched deadly attacks in Agatu and Apa Local Government Areas, leaving several people dead, including a prominent youth and three others.

In Agatu LGA, Sunday Dutse, a native of Odejo and younger brother to a former local government chairman, was ambushed and murdered along the Odugbeho-Ogbaulu road. Dutse, who had been displaced from his village in an earlier attack, was reportedly living in Ogwule-Kaduna, also within Agatu.

Earlier that day, a separate assault occurred in Edikwu-G’Icho, a community in Apa LGA, where three youths were ambushed and killed. Two of the victims were identified as indigenes of Edikwu-G’Icho, while the third hailed from Ugbokpo, the administrative headquarters of Apa.

The resurgence of these coordinated attacks comes barely days after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and other top military officers visited Benue, promising to bolster security in conflict-prone areas.

Residents are expressing growing frustration over the persistent insecurity and unfulfilled promises, questioning the effectiveness of the military’s intervention in the region.

The state government and security agencies are yet to issue official statements as of press time.
