Tinubu Sets 2025 Deadline for Eradicating Insecurity in Nigeria: Defence Minister Matawalle
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to security agencies to eliminate all forms of insecurity in Nigeria by 2025.
Speaking at a gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday, Matawalle assured citizens of the government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s security challenges.
“The government is determined to provide everything required for security operatives to achieve this goal without delay,” he said.
Highlighting ongoing efforts, Matawalle noted that he has visited several countries to procure advanced security equipment, some of which have already been deployed, particularly in Sokoto State.
He also called on communities to play an active role in exposing informants and collaborators of criminal elements.
“We are committed to arresting all notorious bandits and their accomplices. Intelligence information from communities is crucial for achieving our objectives,” the minister emphasized.
Matawalle urged affected communities to be courageous in identifying and reporting criminals, assuring them of government support.
During his seven-day visit to Zamfara, Matawalle plans to tour various communities to assess security challenges and implement actionable solutions.
The minister praised President Tinubu for initiating the construction of the Zaria-Sokoto dual carriageway, describing it as a significant boost to security, transportation, and economic activities in the region.
He concluded by encouraging citizens to continue praying for the success of Tinubu’s administration.
