The Bureau News reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, amid emerging allegations against him.
President Tinubu, who appointed Nnaji in August 2023, confirmed the resignation on Monday through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Minister Geoffrey Nnaji Steps Down Amid Allegations
In his resignation letter addressed to the President, Nnaji expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve Nigeria, while alleging that he had become a target of political blackmail.
“I wish to sincerely thank Mr. President for the trust and confidence reposed in me. However, recent political developments have subjected me to persistent blackmail and distraction. In light of this, I have decided to step aside,” Nnaji wrote.
Tinubu Acknowledges Service, Wishes Him Well
Responding, President Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to integrity and accountability in governance.
“President Tinubu appreciates Geoffrey Nnaji’s contributions to national development and wishes him success in his future engagements,” the statement read.
