Osun Appoints Davido as Chairman, Sports Trust Fund; Government Targets Olympic-Grade Osogbo Stadium
OSOGBO — The Osun State Government has named Afrobeats star David Adeleke (Davido) as Chairman, Osun Sports Trust Fund, a vehicle designed to attract sustainable financing and turbocharge sports development across the state.

Announcing the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi—who also serves as Commissioner for Sports—said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is committed to completing the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium and delivering it to Olympic standards.
“Ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards — a project that will be completed in the shortest possible time,” Adewusi said, adding that plans are at an advanced stage for the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission to drive administration, development, and policy.

Adewusi explained that the Sports Trust Fund will court support from sports philanthropists within and outside Osun. He noted that Davido accepted the role immediately and is expected to leverage his global network to draw investments that translate into facilities, talent pathways, and competitions.
“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate in accepting the appointment. His intervention would attract funds that would impact Osun sports positively,” he said.
