₦7.5 Million Recovered as Security Operatives Rescue Kidnap Victim in Delta State

Security operatives in Delta State have successfully recovered ₦7.5 million from suspected kidnappers following the rescue of Mr. Christopher Owah, who was abducted in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.
The development was disclosed by Harrison Gwamnishu, Founder of the Safe City Volunteer Foundation, in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night, which was sighted by The Bureau News.
Victim Abducted Near His Residence
According to Gwamnishu, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 23, 2025, when Mr. Owah was kidnapped in front of his residence at Akwualusi, near St. Thomas College, Ibusa.
He explained that the victim’s family was forced to pay ransom after the abductors threatened to kill him if their demands were not met.
₦7.5 Million Recovered After Gun Battle
Gwamnishu stated that shortly after the ransom payment, the foundation’s Tech System Air Surveillance team tracked the kidnappers to their hideout, leading to a fierce gun battle between the hoodlums and a joint team of 63 Brigade, Asaba and #NFSS operatives.
“Immediately after the ransom was paid, we tracked the kidnappers through our Air Surveillance System. A fierce gun battle ensued, and let’s just say — what happened in the bush stays in the bush,” Gwamnishu wrote.
He confirmed that the abducted victim had been rescued and was currently receiving medical care. A total of ₦7.5 million was recovered from the kidnappers after the operation.
Governor Oborevwori Commended for Support
Gwamnishu praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continuous support to community safety initiatives and for fulfilling his promise to improve security across Delta State.
“Special thanks to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his steadfast support and for fulfilling his promise of delivering more security for Deltans,” he added.
The rescue comes amid growing concerns over renewed cases of kidnapping in Delta North, with residents urging authorities to sustain surveillance operations and intensify community policing.
