Kebbi Assembly pledges media collaboration to enhance publicity and public awareness
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Kebbi State House of Assembly pledged closer collaboration with the media to improve coverage of the legislature’s work and the state government’s programmes. The commitment was made when executive members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi chapter, paid a familiarisation visit. Represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Danjuma, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Speaker Alhaji Muhammad Usman-Zuru praised the chapel’s leadership for the initiative and said the partnership would serve both institutions and the public.
“Your visit and request for partnership will certainly facilitate mutual benefits. You will have our support. We urge the media to publicise the state’s policies and programmes so more people are enlightened and informed.”
NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel seeks structured engagement
Earlier, the chapel chairman, Alhaji Kabir Wurma, said the visit aimed to strengthen a cordial working relationship with the Assembly. He explained that members are reporters of various organisations posted to Kebbi to cover government activities and broader developments across the state.
Wurma added that the union wants to collaborate with the legislature to consistently publicise debates, oversight, and projects—especially those with direct community impact—and commended lawmakers for recent bills, urging them to sustain the momentum.
