FUBK, KSUSTA join ASUU’s two-week warning strike in Kebbi

On Monday, October 13, 2025, the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) and the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA) joined the nationwide industrial action declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The Bureau News confirmed the development through statements issued by the ASUU secretariats of both institutions.

Union directive to members

The notices instructed members to comply fully with the strike, following a resolution of ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC). At FUBK, chapter chair Dr. Abdulrahman Yusuf Bashir said lecturers were directed to stay away from classes, accreditation activities, conferences, public lectures, and to suspend all official meetings for the duration of the warning strike.

Compliance at KSUSTA

“Yes, we have joined the strike. There are no academic activities until the NEC of ASUU calls off the action.”

An executive member of the KSUSTA chapter told a correspondent that staff had complied and remained at home in line with union instructions.

The Bureau News observed that the directive effectively pauses lectures and related academic functions across both campuses pending further guidance from ASUU. Students have been advised to monitor official channels for updates.
