About 250 terrorists are said to have assaulted Gidan Zuma village in the state’s Bungudu Local Government Area, killing 11 people and kidnapping 20 women and an unknown number of children.

In Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, 20 women and children were reportedly abducted by bandits on Sunday night, and at least 11 people were reported dead.

About 250 terrorists are said to have assaulted Gidan Zuma village in the state’s Bungudu Local Government Area, killing 11 people and kidnapping 20 women and an unknown number of children.

Locals say the bandits launched their attack on Saturday and Sunday night.

There is fear in the communities surrounding Gidan Zuma because, as one local put it, “they (bandits) can strike at any time and security forces would arrive only after they’ve left.”

The tenant, who remained anonymous, went on to say, “They took my wife and our small child hostage. Given the heat and the fast during Ramadan, only God knows how they’re doing.”

“They killed eleven people with gunfire, including my only brother, who was volunteering as a vigilante to guard the neighborhood. They pushed numerous children and twenty mothers into the bush,” he continued.

As of the time of publication, the occurrence had not been officially confirmed.

In an attempt to learn additional details about the event, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, did not return calls or texts.
