DCP Gbolahan Oyedemi, a deputy commissioner of police in the Lagos State Police Command, was discovered dead in his own residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
In 2006, DCP Oyedemi was the Aide de Camp (ADC) to the late Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala, the governor of Oyo State.
Before the tragedy, the deceased, an Ogbomoso resident, had traveled from Lagos to the town for the Easter festival last weekend.
On Tuesday morning, LEADERSHIP was informed by reliable sources that the man’s body was discovered hanging in the house on Monday, indicating a likely suicide.
“He arrived with his assistants, and we discovered that he let them go to enjoy Easter with their families, only to find out that he killed himself yesterday (Monday),” a former assistant to the late Governor Akala—who concurrently worked with DCP Oyedemi—told our correspondent.
“He used to live with his mother in the same house that was built for her in the Randa neighborhood of Ogbomoso. Later, he constructed a new home on Petros Academy Street in the Federal Lowcost neighborhood, and he moved into the new residence. According to another source, he was single.
Attempts to reach the Lagos and Oyo State Police Command spokespersons were unsuccessful as of the time this article was written.
