A key chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Mallam Abdullahi Yusuf, has officially resigned from the party.

Yusuf announced his resignation in Lokoja on Friday through a letter personally signed and addressed to the PDP state chairman. In the letter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had to serve within the party but stated that his decision to leave was based on personal and professional considerations.

“After careful consideration, I have decided that it is in the best interest of my personal and professional goals to step down from the party,” Yusuf wrote.

He further appreciated the PDP for the platform it provided him and extended his best wishes for the party’s future endeavors.

Following his resignation, Yusuf has formally declared his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State.
