Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized eight bandits during fighting patrols in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to operational feedback provided to the Kaduna State Government, the troops initiated the patrol in the Kampanin Doka general area, where they encountered and engaged a group of bandits. In the ensuing confrontation, the troops neutralized seven bandits.
Upon securing and searching the area, the following items were recovered: three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines—four of which were empty and four loaded with a total of 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition—one magazine carrier, six motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng radio sets, and three pairs of civilian clothing.
The operation continued with further engagement in the Gayam general area, where the troops neutralized an additional bandit, while others were believed to have fled with gunshot wounds.
The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed his gratitude to the security forces for their efforts and commended the troops under the leadership of Major General MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP), for their bravery and significant achievement.
