Nigeria News Today: Gunmen Abduct Seven Travellers on Kogi Highway

The Bureau News reports that seven travellers were abducted on Wednesday evening by gunmen along the Itobe–Anyigba expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

How the Attack Happened

The incident was first disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on Thursday. According to him, security operatives on patrol discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Toyota Avensis with registration number KTU 503 CV by the roadside.

Preliminary checks revealed that the vehicle had eight occupants travelling from Kabba to Benue State. They were ambushed around the Ojuwo Olijo forest by heavily armed men.

One Escape, Seven Abducted

Makama confirmed that seven passengers were dragged into the bush, while one female occupant, identified as Elizabeth Istifanu from Kabba, managed to escape the attack.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Following the attack, a joint team of soldiers, police personnel, and vigilantes was mobilised to the area. Security forces have launched bush-combing operations to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
