Nigeria News Today: Kogi Governor Ododo Orders Trailer Parks to Vacate Unauthorized Areas

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has issued a one-month ultimatum to operators of trailer parks to vacate their locations. After the deadline, trailers will no longer be allowed to park in unauthorized areas across the state, especially during hours prohibited by law.

Security Concerns at Zariagi and Osara

Speaking in Lokoja on Saturday, the governor highlighted security as a top priority for his administration. He cited intelligence reports showing that trailer parks at Zariagi and Osara had become hideouts for criminal elements disguised as truck drivers.

Ododo stressed that the decision was aimed at eliminating such risks and ensuring the safety of residents. He directed security agencies to begin strict enforcement of the order once the grace period expires.

Enforcement Measures

The governor directed the police, military, and other security outfits to ensure full compliance with the new directive. He said the order was not only about controlling traffic but also about denying criminals safe havens in the state.

“We cannot allow illegal trailer parks to continue serving as cover for criminal activities. Security is central to the wellbeing of our people, and this action will reinforce safety across Kogi State,” Ododo declared.
