Kebbi Governor Approves ₦1.2 Billion for Education, Pays Students’ Registration Fees

In a move to strengthen education and support youth development, the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasiru Idris, has approved the release of over ₦1.2 billion for key education initiatives, including the payment of outstanding registration fees for tertiary students.

The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, during a media briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.


Breakdown of the ₦1.2 Billion Education Funding

According to the Commissioner, the funds will be disbursed across critical projects:

  • Renovation of Students’ Hostels at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, covering Abdulsalam Nagimbana, Bush House, and Emir Haruna Rasheed hostels – ₦230,205,981.96.

  • Procurement of equipment for the newly established College of Midwifery, Ambursa, Birnin Kebbi₦251,525,065.00.

  • Payment of outstanding registration fees for Kebbi students studying in various institutions across Nigeria for the 2024/2025 academic session₦695,936,660.00.


Education as Long-Term Investment

Commissioner Tunga emphasized that Governor Idris views education as a long-term investment and the foundation of societal progress.

“No resource is too great when it comes to safeguarding the future of our younger generation,”
– Isah Abubakar Tunga, Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education.

He extended appreciation to the Governor on behalf of the Ministry for the timely intervention, noting that it would ease financial burdens on students and parents alike.

The Commissioner further urged students and citizens of Kebbi State to continue supporting Governor Idris’ administration with prayers and cooperation, assuring that the government remains committed to delivering quality education and good governance.
