The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, has called for the deployment of women health officers in house-to-house immunization campaigns across the state.
Women as Key Drivers of Immunization Success
Speaking during a meeting of the Taskforce Committee on Immunizations in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, Senator Tafida emphasized that engaging women in door-to-door health sensitization would improve compliance with vaccination programs. He noted that cultural considerations in Kebbi communities make female health workers more effective in mobilizing households.
“The engagement of women health officers will attract better compliance from families and ensure stronger acceptance of immunization exercises,” Tafida said.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the state government’s full support for the success of immunization campaigns and praised the Taskforce Committee on Immunizations for their dedication.
Earlier in the meeting, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jibrin Gwandu, described the taskforce as the highest decision-making body on health-related issues in the state. He commended health stakeholders for their role in implementing healthcare policies.

Dr. Gwandu revealed that Kebbi State recently received vaccine cold boxes and essential vaccination supplies donated by UNICEF, which would strengthen healthcare delivery and immunization logistics.
