In today’s Nigeria News Today, The Bureau News reports that the African Development Bank (AfDB) has thrown its weight behind a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programme aimed at boosting the implementation of Africa’s long-term development vision — Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
The training, held in Lusaka, Zambia, was organised by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), with AfDB providing both technical and financial support through its Joint Secretariat Support Office (JSSO).
The 5th Annual Training Workshop focused on helping African Union Member States harness AI for effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on the Second Ten-Year Plan (2024–2033) of Agenda 2063.
“These tools are not only revolutionising how data is collected, analysed, and reported, they are also enabling more targeted policy interventions and efficient resource allocation,” said Abibu Tamu, Lead Programme Coordinator at AfDB.
Participants explored practical applications of AI platforms such as Ailyse, ChatGPT, Google AI Studio, Google Gemini, and Perplexity — learning how these technologies can enhance data analysis, improve decision-making, and support evidence-based policy planning.
AfDB’s support reflects its broader commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and results-based planning within the African Union framework, ensuring that African nations can track progress on development goals more effectively.
The workshop also provided a platform for peer learning, with participating countries sharing best practices in national development planning and results-based reporting.
