A tragic incident happened in Kontangora Local Government Area of Niger State, where newlywed Amina Abashe allegedly poured her husband, Shehu Abdullahi, with boiling water during a heated dispute over her frequent interactions with other men. The details, as reported by The Bureau Newspaper, paint a distressing picture of domestic conflict.

According to Abdullahi, who recounted the harrowing experience from his hospital bed at Kontagora General Hospital, the couple had tied the knot just two months prior following the passing of his former wife. Abdullahi described a sequence of events wherein his wife initially attempted to stab him before resorting to pouring boiling water on him.

Abdullahi further explained that despite their recent union, Abashe refused to relocate to his residence, prompting him to raise the matter with her parents. The confrontation escalated on the evening of the incident when Abashe summoned Abdullahi to their home, informing him of her intention to dissolve the marriage and return his dowry. Allegations arose that she was concurrently engaged in a conversation with a male acquaintance, fueling Abdullahi’s anger and leading to a physical altercation.

In the ensuing confrontation, Abdullahi managed to disarm Abashe of a knife she wielded, only for her to retaliate by dousing him with boiling water.

This disturbing incident underscores the gravity of domestic disputes and the need for effective conflict resolution mechanisms within marital relationships. Such acts of violence have no place in society and demand urgent attention and intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and families.
