According to the Nigerian Army, its forces conducted an offensive in Zamfara State, killed two terrorists in Taraba State, and thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Kogi State, where they freed abduction victims.

This was announced in a statement released on Friday by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations.

According to Nwachukwu, troops in Taraba State’s Bali Local Government Area quickly deployed in response to actionable intelligence on terrorist movements in the Mayinawa, Garin Daniel, and Garbatau axis. They engaged the terrorists in firefight, killing two of them.

According to the army spokeswoman, the locals have reportedly been terrorized by the terrorists on a regular basis.

“The troops recovered two AK-47 Rifles, four AK-47 Magazines and 56 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition,” he said.

Similarly, Nwachukwu said that troops thwarted a kidnap attempt by criminal elements, who attacked passengers onboard three commercial buses along Akpata–Obajana road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to him, “The vigilant troops arrived timely to avert the situation, rescuing the passengers and engaging the criminals in a hot pursuit. Some of the rescued passengers who suffered injuries during the kidnap attempt have been promptly evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
