Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians in the state and across Nigeria, urging them to reflect on the essence of the season and to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.
In a goodwill message released on Easter Sunday, Governor Idris described Easter as a time for sober reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal. He called on the Christian faithful to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ—particularly love, patience, tolerance, and understanding—in their daily lives.
“Easter reminds us that darkness is temporary and light will ultimately prevail. Let us use this season to renew our collective spirit of resilience and commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous Kebbi and Nigeria,” the governor said.
He encouraged Christians to extend goodwill to their neighbours regardless of religious or ethnic background and to preach peace and unity, especially in these challenging times.
Governor Idris emphasized that Easter is not only a celebration of the resurrection of Christ but also a powerful symbol of hope, sacrifice, and renewal—values needed to strengthen the fabric of society.
Easter, which marks the culmination of the Lenten season observed by many Christian denominations, is celebrated globally to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The tradition was formalized in 325 AD at the Council of Nicaea, which established the Easter date based on the lunar calendar.
The governor concluded his message by urging citizens to remain steadfast in faith and prayer for the advancement of the state and the country at large.
