According to the Katsina State-based Civilian JTF, its members assassinated Kachalla Maude, a well-known bandit leader, on Friday night.
This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday by the Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security.
In Garin Rinji, a community in the western region of Batsari Local Government, the Civilian JTF ambushed a terrorist gang led by Kachalla Maude with the help of security personnel, according to the statement.
According to Bala Zango, the Katsina State Commissioner for Information and Culture, the terrorists were heavily fired upon by the JTF during the ambush, which resulted in the gang leader’s detention.
According to him, Maude and his gang have been terrorising the state’s western Batsari Local Government Area.
According to the commissioner, Maude admitted to ordering attacks on multiple communities around the Batsari/Danmusa axis that claimed hundreds of innocent lives prior to her death.
Maude further acknowledged that she had obtained more than N130 million in ransom from the relatives of the victims.
