Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully eliminated the entire political and military leadership of Yemen’s Houthi movement during a series of targeted airstrikes on Thursday night.

According to Yemen’s Al-Jumhuriya channel and the Aden Al-Ghad newspaper, Houthi prime minister Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in an Israeli strike on an apartment building in Sanaa, alongside several close associates.

Multiple Strikes Reported in Yemen

In what appeared to be a separate strike, ten Houthi ministers were reportedly killed while gathered outside Sanaa to hear a speech from the group’s leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi.

Israel’s Channel 13 reported that early assessments indicated the strikes were successful, while Ynet suggested that “the entire military and governmental elite of the Houthis was eliminated.”

Strategic Impact on the Middle East

If confirmed, this would mark one of Israel’s most significant operations against the Houthis, a group considered part of Iran’s regional proxy network. The development could have far-reaching implications for Middle East security, particularly in the Red Sea, where Houthi forces have previously targeted international shipping.
