Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, is a campaigner for Yoruba nationalism who claims he is returning to the country to drive out “killer herdsmen” from the southwest region.
The people of the southwest, according to Igboho, need to free themselves from the deadly herdsmen who are terrorizing them.
In a video that went viral on social media on Tuesday, the agitator for Yoruba country was seen speaking Yoruba to a group of people in Igboho town, Oyo state.
Igboho stated in the video that military are not necessary for the people of the southwest to expel murderous herdsmen from their farms.
“We must band together. We have to assume responsibility for the southwest’s security. We don’t have to wait for the government or anybody else.
“They have seized our territory. Is it possible for us to revisit the farm? We’re unable to visit the farm. Our monarchs were slain in Ekiti state.
“Soldiers are not necessary to protect us. We’ll start cultivating after we drive them off our land. To ensure the security of our territory, we will collaborate with our elders.
Igboho declared that he does not work for any politician, but he is under constant observation for his next move.
Three years after leaving for the Benin Republic, the Yoruba nation agitator just made his way back to his native country.
Igboho and his spouse, Ropo, were taken into custody in Cotonou, Benin Republic, in July 2021, upon the Nigerian government’s request.
Following a search by the Department of State Services (DSS) on his home in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, on July 1, 2021, Igboho left Nigeria.
Twelve of his assistants were taken into custody and two people were killed in the raid.
Igboho was declared wanted by the DSS because it was claimed that he was hoarding firearms.
Following his detention, the Nigerian authorities made vain attempts to bring him back to his home country.
Igboho was imprisoned in a national jail after being charged in the Court D’Apeal in Cotonou.
The accusations leveled against him included instigating violence, smuggling weapons, and advocating for the Yoruba people to secede from Nigeria.
