The rising wave of abductions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, took a disturbing turn on Tuesday night as gunmen kidnapped an unspecified number of motorists and passengers near the Abacha Barracks bypass in Guzape.
The attack, which occurred at about 11:31 p.m. on February 25, has further heightened fears among residents amid the worsening insecurity in the nation’s capital.
Recent Surge in Abductions
This latest incident follows a series of kidnappings in various parts of the FCT, including Bwari, Kuje, and Gwagwalada, where armed gangs have abducted numerous individuals, including schoolchildren and commuters.
Abandoned Vehicles Found
According to Police Intelligence sources, who confirmed the attack to Zagazola Makama, security operatives responding to a distress call discovered two abandoned vehicles at the scene:
- A black Toyota Prado Land Cruiser with registration number Abuja RBC 900 SF, reportedly belonging to Hon. Shagala Samuel
- A Honda Civic with registration number RSH 181 TH belonging to Mr. Omachonu Isaac.
The exact number of victims taken by the kidnappers remains uncertain at this time.
