In a significant move to support workers and their families, Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has approved ₦1.14 billion for the payment of gratuities and death benefits to 445 contract staff across the state.
This was disclosed in an official statement released by Rashidu Muhammad-Bala, Director at the Office of the Head of Service, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
A Commitment to Welfare and Inclusion
According to the statement, the payment aligns with Governor Idris’ commitment to good governance, fairness, and streamlining the civil service through structured reforms. It reflects the administration’s dedication to recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who have served the state under contract appointments.
The Bureau News confirms that the decision is part of a broader strategy to promote transparency and accountability in public administration in Kebbi State.

The statement also reassured all non-indigene staff that the current administration is inclusive and committed to serving all residents of Kebbi, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
