The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has partially restored the national grid following a system disturbance at 9:17 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
A check on TCN’s energy monitor website showed that the total power generation has increased to 410.00MW after being down to 0.00MW.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) received 50MW and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) received 50MW, Eko Disco received N50MW, Enugu Disco received 80MW, Ibadan Discos received 90MW, Ikeja Disco received 70, Port Harcourt Disco received 20, totalling 410 MW
Earlier, the electricity distribution companies (DisCos) announced the shutdown in separate statements on Tuesday.
The development comes within 24 hours after the grid collapsed on October 14.
Ikeja Electric said the national grid collapsed at about 9:17 am, affecting power supply within its franchise.
“Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network,” the firm said.
The national electricity grid has collapsed about seven times in 2024. The first time was on February 4. The grid experienced another shutdown on March 28, April 15, July 6, and August 5. On May 1, the TCN said the number of system collapses had reduced significantly in the country.
