Gunmen have kidnapped Dr. Adekunle Raif Adeniji, the Director of Administration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja. The abduction occurred two weeks ago in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with his captors reportedly demanding a ₦350 million ransom for his release.
Party, Security Agencies Yet to Respond
So far, neither the APC National Secretariat nor security agencies have issued an official statement on the incident. However, sources confirm that Dr. Adeniji remains in captivity, as negotiations for his release continue.
Dr. Adeniji was appointed Director of Administration in August 2024, following the resignation of his predecessor, Prof. Alaba Adediwura. His appointment was formally announced by the party’s National Secretary.
Wave of High-Profile Kidnappings Continues
His abduction comes amid a growing trend of high-profile kidnappings across the country. Recently, retired Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was also kidnapped from his residence in Katsina State. His abductors have reportedly demanded a ₦250 million ransom.
The increasing cases of kidnappings targeting prominent individuals have heightened concerns over security in Nigeria, with residents and stakeholders calling for urgent government intervention.
