The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnaghe Obono Itam, on Monday led police patrols to some parts of the state against illegal sit-at-home enforcers in the state, as he commenced security advocacy on anti-sit-at-home.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, the state capital, said that Itam’s visit to some police divisional headquarters during the patrols is also part of the command’s security assessment in the 21 local government areas of the state.
The police commissioner also said that the command was on trial for some already mentioned suspects involved in the attacks at Nibo and Ifite areas of the state, two weeks ago.
He charged communities in Awka South Local Government Council to work with the Police and take responsibility to be their neighbour’s keeper
“The Security/Anti Sit at Home assessment patrol started with a visit to the Awka South Local Government Area Council by the Commissioner of Police,” the police spokesperson said.
He said the CP also charged the executive council members, the traditional rulers, the president general of the communities, youth leaders, Anambra State Vigilantes Operatives, PCRC members and other stakeholders to continue to work with the police and other security agencies on the need to adopt sustainable policing practices to improve security surveillance and timely security interventions in the state.
Ikenga added, “He urged residents alike to report suspicious persons and unusual movement they may observe to the nearest Police Station or through the Command Emergency number call 07039194332 for a prompt response.
