In the aftermath of the recently concluded Kogi State Governorship election, Admiral Usman Jibrin, the determined and resolute governorship candidate, has broken his silence to address swirling rumors about his political future and commitment to the development of Kogi State.
Despite facing obstacles in securing the APC governorship seat in 2019, Admiral Jibrin’s unwavering determination to rescue Kogi State has remained steadfast. He played a pivotal role in the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, collaborating with fellow members to secure the state for President Asiwaju Tinubu.
Undeterred by past setbacks, Jibrin navigated through political waters, moving from the SDP and ultimately finding his anchor in the Accord Party. It was with this party that he emerged as the candidate in the recently concluded Kogi 2023 governorship election.
Kogi State, blessed with abundant resources, both metallic, non-metallic, and human, is paradoxically marred by a lack of infrastructural development, leaving its people in continuous abject poverty, Jibrin remarked. His mission, he stated, is to harness these resources and spearhead the much-needed development in the state.
Expressing gratitude to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, under whom he served as the Chief of Naval Staff, Jibrin emphasized his commitment to the philosophy that political ambitions should never come at the cost of the people. “His ambition is not worth the blood of Kogites,” he asserted.
Responding to speculations about a potential return to the APC, Admiral Jibrin, currently outside the country, declined to comment, suggesting that the discussion could wait until his return. However, he affirmed that as an astute military officer, the unity, development, and well-being of Kogites and Nigerians remain his top priorities.
Admiral Usman Jibrin’s journey in politics reflects resilience and a commitment to public service. As the political landscape in Kogi continues to evolve, his actions and statements signal a continued dedication to the betterment of the state, irrespective of the party affiliation he may choose upon his return.
