Following an attack by as-yet-unidentified gunmen in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area, seven people have been reported dead and numerous more have been injured to varying degrees.

The incident happened on Saturday night, January 11, 2025, in the Tattara neighborhood, Panda District, according to a statement released by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, or NYCN.

The horrific occurrence has left the community in a state of profound anguish and devastation, according to Dr. Onuk Oji Galadima, the Chairman of NYCN in Panda.

Onuk expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and urged the nation’s security forces to act quickly to capture the criminals and prosecute them.

In the statement released on Sunday, he declared, “This senseless attack on innocent unarmed citizens is unacceptable and must be condemned by all.”
In addition to calling on the government to take proactive measures to protect our neighborhoods, we urge everyone to be on guard, report any suspicious activity, and refrain from breaking the law.

Additionally, we ask for sufficient help and support for the impacted community and families.

“The residents of Tattara and other villages impacted by comparable incidents are in our thoughts and prayers.”
