Engr. Lawrence Ankpa, a current affairs analyst, has voiced strong criticism against Barrister Halima Alfa for her alleged exploitation of Senator Natasha Akpoti’s name in a bid to regain political traction. His rebuke came in response to an open letter penned by Halima titled “Open Letter to Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan on her Role in EFCC Persecution of Yahaya Bello.”

Lawrence described Halima’s action as a misguided attempt to revive her waning political presence using Senator Akpoti’s reputation. He dismissed the possibility that referencing Natasha could rejuvenate Halima’s political fortunes, suggesting that Halima had squandered previous opportunities.

He further detailed Halima’s political journey, noting her shifts in loyalty among various political figures, which he argued had led to significant discord within political circles. Lawrence recounted instances where Halima allegedly betrayed political allies and engaged in actions that he viewed as lacking integrity, such as abandoning her husband during illness and publicly insulting the Igala nation.

Additionally, Lawrence questioned the substance of Halima’s open letter, labeling it as poorly researched and “beautiful nonsense.” He challenged the rationale behind Halima’s claims, particularly her insinuation that Senator Akpoti could influence the actions of the EFCC, a federal agency.

In his concluding remarks, Lawrence condemned Halima’s continued support for Bello, likening it to terrorism for prioritizing personal over societal good. He urged for a reevaluation of political allegiances and called for discourse that considers long-term societal impacts rather than immediate political gains.
